Women are the foundation of society. Yet, they are the most oppressed lot in many situations, particularly women from the economically weaker section of the society. They lack employable skills & sustainable and dignified livelihoods. Mai Hu Na’s intervention provides the underprivileged (and often uneducated) and tribal women with skill training to enable them to earn their living, and become financially independent. Training in tailoring skills provides opportunities for small businesses. So, they need not leave their children behind to work as labourers and daily wage earners. They are not forced to choose between livelihood and motherhood.
